My Story (without the cheese!)

’Twas a Tuesday morning in 1993…

“Really? That’s where you’re going to start?”

Okay, fine. Let’s fast-forward a bit. June 2022: I quit my job to chase a BSc in Biological Sciences. Liked parts of the job, hated parts of the job—mostly that I felt more like a babysitter for my staff than their boss. (Hope they don’t read this.)

So, in September 2022, I dove in full-time with the Open University, planning to work again after three years. And then, life threw a curveball: Elise arrived after my first year. (wanted to sound dramatic, she was actually planned, so I knew what I had in store) back to the story…

“Who’s Elise?”

Ah yes, my daughter. She’s two now. My amazing wife Amy works in the NHS, and thanks to her, I get to do what most dads only dream of: stay home full-time and watch our little human grow.

I don’t talk about this much—not because I’m ashamed, but because attention isn’t really my thing. I do struggle with anxiety and depressive periods. I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2021, and since then, it’s been a journey learning about myself, figuring out how to live in a way that works for me, and making the most of life through Elise—doing things I couldn’t as a kid because, well… “the way I am.”

But enough of the heavy stuff, this life? I love it. I’m grateful. I know most dads never get this kind of chance.

Fast forward to 2026, I completed my Degree with a 2:1 whilst looking after the little one… wait, that rhymed!

“Get to the point”

Sorry, I’m enjoying life (meds help) and looking forward to sharing this journey with you all!

Oh! I should probably introduce myself properly. I’m Daniel. Nice to meet you!

I wish I had a cool ‘sign off’ but i dont, so…

Bye :)
